Extra Emphasis
Tells during poker online are like a gift from your casino opponents-it’s like they’re saying, “Hey, I’ve got a killer hand, you might want to fold”, or “I’m acting strong, but I’ve really got crap. You could beat me with a 10 high”. When you look for tells, the majority of them are the kind that will tell you to fold. They will save you tons of money, but it’s never fun to fold. Much more fun (and much more scarce) are the tells that suggest that you raise. These don’t occur often in poker online, but when you find one, milk that sucker for all it’s worth.
Finding weakness is tougher, but it’s possible. Look for little signs of confidence-they are a great way to find weakness in a player. When you’re raised, see if they place a bit more emphasis on the raise than usual. If there’s a little flourish as they put their chips in-if they toss them in carelessly, if they try to stare you down, you might want to consider giving them the old re-raise. If you’ve got a strong hand, you will usually do your best to hide it, so it stands to reason that a player who acts strong is trying to hide his weakness.
