Naveen Jain: His Career Story
Naveen Jain, the Indian-American businessman, was a finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2006. He was formerly an employee of Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, Washington. He worked there from 1989 to 1996.
He was admitted to the world famous software label first as a program manager. In this capacity, he worked on OS/2, MS-DOS and Windows NT and got three patents for handling Windows 95. He later segued to The Microsoft Network, more commonly known as MSN, where he became the proprietary online service’s group manager.
He is now the president and CEO of his own company, Intelius. Still based in Washington, Intelius ranks among the fastest growing companies in the US, in the annual list by Inc. Magazine. Deloitte & Touche also says it is one of the fastest-growing technology companies in North America.
With billions of public records in its database, Intelius furnishes ordinary customers in the US with day-today intelligences to get them by. From 20-year address databases, it can locate the whereabouts of almost anyone in America, including long lost associates and relatives. From innumerable dockets it can run reliable criminal checks, verifiable by researchers with courthouses in America’s counties.
For these, Intelius became the Best New Company Stevie Award winner of 2006. It was also a nominee for Most Innovative Company in the following year’s awards.
Born, raised and educated in India, Naveen Jain migrated to New Jersey, USA after getting his MBA at XLRI-Jamshedpur. He found work with the Burroughs Corporation (Unisys) in the state before heading to Washington.
