The Hidden Messages in Flowers: Basic Vocabulary
The flower requested more than any other sort in bouquets, is the rose. Not a surprise when you consider how exquisite they are. They have a delightful fragrance and are composed of fragile petals, but each tone corresponds to a special meaning. With the extraordinary meanings hidden in every tone, you can communicate without so much as a whisper. The famous blue rose does not really appear naturally, yet even dyed there is no easier way to say unattainable or impossible. If you have a blue rose sent as part of an arrangement, it combines well with almost all other species and can convey numerous things. Really black roses aren’t natural either and more often than not they refer to dying or partings. These associations make black roses a very much requested rose in funeral and sympathy floral tributes.
Luckily, only a couple of tones will represent such morbid or gloomy connotations. Orange colored blooms can stand for enthusiasm or fascination. Coral pink tones are linked to longing and paler peachy tones show reserve. Dark peach blooms have a number of messages besides, nevertheless; to name but one example: they are always a great way of saying thank you.
Everybody understands the connection betwixt red roses and romance. There are in fact various other meanings to this exquisite bloom. Dark red or wine colored roses mean unconscious beauty, even so a simple rosebud communicates honor and beauty. Early in a love affair send thornless varieties because they are sure to indicate love at first sight.
Pink is indeed from the same color family as red, but it has its own range of communications and correspondences. Sometimes pink roses are given to apologize or to express joy and hope.
Pure white flowers are often thought to stand for innocence, but luckily this kind can actually have many meanings, including wedded bliss if they are arranged in a bride’s posy. Less well-known meanings include youthfulness, harmony, eternity, silence, reverence, or even worthiness.
And so, when you can’t find the right language, let a floral arrangement do the hard part for you. Roses come in such a range of hues, that in combination you can say just about anything you can think of.
